A Birthday Fit for a Poker King: Laksh Pal Singh Crowned PokerBaazi’s Newest Team Pro

Celebrating your 30th birthday is always special, but for Laksh Pal Singh, it became a life-changing moment. Just days after winning PokerBaazi’s “The Circuit,” Singh received the ultimate gift on November 22—an announcement naming him PokerBaazi’s newest Team Pro, cementing his position among India’s poker elite.

From Hanoi to Hero: Conquering “The Circuit”

Singh’s journey to this honor began in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he competed in Season 1 of “The Circuit,” a high-stakes poker competition featuring 12 of India’s finest players. Battling intense competition, Singh emerged victorious, claiming the ₹15 Lakhs first-place prize.

Veteran pro Jasven Saigal took second for ₹8 Lakhs, while Dannish Thiyam, a dark horse in the field, secured ₹5 Lakhs for third.

A Perfect Birthday Surprise

On his 30th birthday, PokerBaazi announced Singh as their latest Team Pro, following in the footsteps of poker coach Abhishek Goindi, who joined the team in 2022. Singh’s addition highlights PokerBaazi’s commitment to promoting homegrown talent.

“This incredible talent has an inspiring story,” said Varun Ganjoo, Co-founder and CMO of Baazi Games. “Laksh is a torchbearer for the sport. His victory in ‘The Circuit’ cements his status as a true poker beast. Proud and thrilled to welcome him to the PokerBaazi Team Pro family.”

Early Spark: A Poker Interest is Born

Singh’s first encounter with poker came in ninth grade, playing a casual game with friends. Though the game didn’t involve money, it planted the seed for what would later become his passion.

His interest grew through his friendship with Sahil Mahboobani, a professional poker player. Observing Mahboobani’s dedication to marathon online poker sessions sparked Singh’s deeper exploration of the game.

From College to Cards: Following His Passion

After graduating with a B.Com Honors degree from Sri Ram College of Commerce, Singh pursued Chartered Accountancy. However, poker continued to call.

In 2015, during an audit, Singh returned to poker through home games and online micro-stakes. By September 2018, he took the bold step of going pro, even skipping his final CA exams to fully dedicate himself to poker.

With mentorship from Aditya Agarwal and backing from PokerGuru Staking, Singh honed his skills, setting the stage for his rise in the poker world.

A Trail of Triumphs: Singh’s Poker Resume

Singh has amassed ₹17 Crores in tracked online winnings, including ₹4.66 Crores on PokerBaazi alone. His achievements include victories in almost every major flagship tournament, such as The Endeavour, BSS SuperStack, and The Weekly HighRoller.

In live poker, Singh boasts winnings of over ₹93 Lakhs, with notable finishes including:

  • Runner-up in the 2019 WPT Cambodia $1,100 Main Event Warm-Up for ₹12.58 Lakhs.
  • Second place in the DPT May 2024 ₹33K NLHE Mystery Bounty, earning ₹5.35 Lakhs.

Beyond his personal accomplishments, Singh has been a leader in the poker community. He captained the Mumbai Anchors to victory in Pocket52’s Poker Sports League (PSL) Season 5 and previously served as a Team Pro for Pocket52.

As a PokerBaazi Team Pro, Singh aims to elevate the Indian poker scene, fostering growth, engaging with the community, and offering valuable educational content.
